“On the ceiling, the stars become shooting stars that form an airplane. The ‘Constellation of Departure’ utilizes a new display system, the “Particulate Display System,” that was researched and implemented under the auspices of the Digital Public Art Project. The display system uses 3,000 LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) driven at speeds of up to 250 blinks per second to display the scrolling image. The viewer is able to see this high-definition image through the afterimage phenomenon of the visual system. ”
