The IML’s Digital Design Symposium kicks off this semester on Monday, August 29, 2011 SCA 112 at 7:00 p.m. with media designer Anne Burdick and a presentation titled “Micro Mega Meta.” Burdick will talk about a design-driven inquiry that took place this summer exploring the future of humanities research and scholarly production. Through the creation of speculative environments and interfaces, the project looked at ways to provide an alternative to the information environments envisioned through popular media and corporate promotions that tend to emphasize military, scientific, and business applications. Anne Burdick is chair of the Graduate Media Design Program at Art Center College of Design. She is currently at work imagining the future of digital scholarship in the humanities, built upon her experience designing experimental text projects in diverse media.
