re-invasion
Japanese game machine maker Taito Corp said on Friday it plans to restart sales of "Space Invaders" in the United States, almost 25 years after the game first appeared in video arcades.

This is really a brave attempt. Although it's classic, depending on how much it is, will you buy it? Even if you bought it, how long will you play it after 25 years? People never satisfied.

This is bogus. Namco is manufacturing it, and it looks like it's only the arcade cabinets (2 grand a piece). Only collectors are going to be interested, and they hold a very small portion of arcade cabinet sales. I doubt this will work well.

in my opinion, both of the previous comments are missing the point. Namco is reissing these for the nostalgia market -- at 2K, people are buying these more as collecters items, even...works of art..., not viable gaming platforms. sure, people'll probably buy them and play them a bit. but jenova's right -- people will become disinterested by the game play, but not by the 'aura' of owning a space invaders cabinet, even if it's not an original.
