Israeli based VKB Inc.
is already marketing a virtual keyboard for $99 that works with PDA’s via USB. Their US distributor is Ibiz Inc.

The technologies look very similar; I’m not sure what the differences are, if any.
There are some great videos on this site of trade show demonstrations and recent TechTV press:
Note: The keyboard functions slowly and is most effective when used with single fingers using a “hunt and peck” method of typing. Sounds like even with occlusion issues, people enjoy the benefit of a full size keyboard.
Slashdot comments on the P-ism were pretty cynical.

One stated that Canesta required a stereoscopic view of the target area. I’m not so sure this is true from what I’ve read on Canesta’s site.
