GPS Digital Camera

It's way too expensive - the software alone is $250, bringing the entire package to over $1100, but I've been waiting for something like this: digital photography integrated with a GPS. Actually, now that I think about it, when I cobble the same technology together for a current project that includes a PocketPC PDA, Bluetooth GPS unit, and a decent Compact Flash digital camera, I'm up to about $800! But, I guess the DIY satisfaction is invaluable..oh, and Microsoft donated the PDA and a huge box of development tools..

there have been a couple of these things that I've seen in japan -- but you're right -- the technology is pretty easy to implement with any of the mobile systems we are building up right now (hp 5555 + CF GPS). All you need to do, as it sounds like you've done, is add a little camera and some software. plus, doing it that way allows you more flexilbilty in terms of sending the photos wirelessly, etc.

Some one needs to build one of these GPS devices into a mobile device so that all these add-ons will not be needed. It's cool that the GPS-Photo Link software allows video clips to be taken as well and encoded with site specific data.
hmmmm... donated development tools! Sounds great, you think we might be able to see any donations for project dev in 499 this fall? Regardless, I'm signed up and will see you there!

You don't need the bloody software, the camera does the work for you. If you took a photo with this camera and uploaded it to http://thingster.org/ you would see that the latitude and longitude are picked up by the thingster engine automatically. You only need $950 for this camera.
