Internet Gives Teenage Bullies Weapons to Wound From Afar

This is nothing new. My sister as well as myself experienced this sort of behavior as kids in highschool, back during the heyday of AOL and email. Several people found it amusing to harass others with nasty emails and threatening remarks as an easy way to vent anger and frustration. I'm just surprised it's taken this long for someone to catch on to the fact that kids are just as likely to meet bullies on the internet as well as the playground.
Bullies exist everywhere, in all social circles. The most l33t h4x0rz to the most basic of script kiddies all find a niche in digital bullying. I am more interested in the extreme cases of serious security hacking and the mentality that might resurect another Columbine incident. To what extremes does this cyber bullying go when applied to those cases, if at all?
Also what might be interesting are the vengeance stories of those who have been hurt by the IM/ email/blog that strike back in ways that may or may not be so innocent or subtle.
