backchannel tool?
MoonEdit: multi-platform collaborative text editor.
Cooperative multi-user text editing over the internet. Every co-author can edit the shared document at any time, from any place, and at the same time! There's no need to send files via FTP or to compare documents when multiple users need to make changes to it independently.Posted by will at January 23, 2005 02:57 PM | TrackBack

I love the looks of this, Will - nice find. I would love to use something like this for our Wednesday night sessions - everyone editing collective notes. How would that change the social dynamic? from text-chat.
This MoonEdit is Linux and Windows ready - I wonder if we can get it running on the Macs in the crowd? Myself included.

What ever happended to giving your full attention to the guest speaker? Since when is carrying on a side conversation an acceptable thing to do? What happened to our manners?
I wish I had saved the logs from last semester. But I recall several presentations where the speaker stopped and asked the group what was going on with that back channel that was so funny. I wonder how the professors who presented last semester feel about this.
