I've already pressed the red button and the green one. All that is left is the blue, yellow and white wires; which should I cross?

Try the MovableType.org site if you wanna start replacing your crazy whack funky templates with the standard set. Then you could start from scratch with customization.
Otherwise, be more specific about what's broke and maybe we can see what's gone wrong?
