Talley Ho!
Excerpts:
from Susana:
“A thesis is a demonstration of the student’s ability to work independently. … Additionally, it is a demonstration of the student’s proficiency in regards to the particular field’s scope and methodologies.”
“The degree to which a thesis is innovative may vary, particularly in terms of an Arts degree because the question of what is innovative can be so elusive. It may ‘simply’ be the case that the thesis eloquently demonstrates and develops an existing paradigm.”
“Because the IMD is a new department within an emerging field, perhaps some special nuances and/or divergences from well-established models should exist.”
“The department should expect a well-formulated idea, thoroughly examined and probed. The original point of view, the hypothetical proposition, should to some degree exist (it is not an easy thing to conclusively distinguish original point of view and oftentimes an idea is a hybrid of many). This idea should relate/contribute to the field of interactive media and the case that it does should be well apparent/articulated.”
from Kellee:
“…I finally realized that my thesis does not have to be my life-defining work. but will be more of a concentrated reflection of my feelings as an interactive artist to-date. I expect that my thesis will act as a bookmark in my artistic life; it will be something I can point to that succinctly reflects who I am in this era.”
from Brad:
“A personal creation / expression that straddles both one’s academic conclusions and intellectual / creative visions.”
from Michael:
“…the thesis is my opportunity to finally create a large-scale multimedia project. For years I’ve wanted to go nuts on such a project… What’s more, I want to create something collaboratively – to make something that’s greater than the sum of its parts…”
from Andrew:
“My expectations of the IMT are extremely high. It will therefore be necessary to be equally clever in deciding on a theme, strategy, production/process, team (if applicable), implementation, and product/performance.”
from Julie:
“I expect to come out of this process haggard and tired and accomplished. I feel that my thesis may just be my final contribution to the world of interactive media, and I really want to make it mean something…”
from Jenova:
“It is not a simple assignment for your degree, but what will really make you proud in your life.”
from Erin:
“Now the question seems to be: How do I use this last year @CNTV to push me even closer to, as my father would put it, living the dream?”
