Perlination

I spent a good chunk of today playing around with the Perlin noise algorithm in Processing. I'd known about Perlin noise for a little while now, but had never bothered to look into the kind of possibilities it opens up. I've barely scratched the surface here, but am really impressed with the kind of motion you can produce with it. I have a feeling that I will be using noise a lot in future software sketches. I think I've worn myself out at this point so I'd like to share what I've come up with along with a vague sequence of sketches that took me to where I'm stopping for the day. My processing process, if you will.

The End

Many thanks to my friend Brendan for helping me get through a tough programming roadblock. Some of the applets allow you to use the mouse to effect some of the settings. The first one regenerates when you press any key. Mac friends, I don't expect the latter several sketches to run very well on the crappy JVM you are stuck with.

Awesome works. I like the way they moves. Cool algorithm too.
