Real HMD?

Saw this linked on core77.com - it's almost too extreme to be believable. 'shopped?

In this astonishing photo, a model is wearing a new gadget, from electronics manufacturer Toshiba, that enables the wearer to experience a full 360-degree view on a 40 centimetre dome-shaped screen.

Story here.

Bummer it's tethered.

The specs stated by toshiba are misleading. It's 120° horizontally by 70° vertically. The "360 FOV" is reported to be possible with a "head tracker". So, basically like every other HMD. They're using an LED projector to display the image on the dome, which is the actual interesting part of the hardware; along with the stealth bomber pilot design.

Yeah, and bummer it is the size of an RV.

So our solution for more meaningful interaction with LED's is to put full-size televisions on our heads?

Brilliant!
