Part 2

Part 2

PART 2

1. An area of interest you've identified.
I think of two things the life cycle that a fetus must take to grow in the mother’s womb to “giving birth to creativity,” (Maya mentioned in class) and then witnessing the child grow. Another analogy is the stages that a caterpillar must journey into becoming a butterfly.
Transformation, rituals, & performance are a few themes that I would like to further explore in this project.

2. A couple of questions (stated in the form of a question) and opportunities suggested by your area of interest. What do you (or a potential viewer) want or need to know about this area?
Performers need to know that this is an embodied experience. Mind, body, soul & spirit must be aligned to participate in this quest for understanding truth.

3. Identify a method or process that can be used to explore your question.
The state of nepantla: or the in-between state coined by the late Chicana feminist, Gloria Anzaldua is a method that I would like to explore in my work. I interpret nepantla as the moment where one is able to experience the movement of their body with no convictions and feel and face their fears.

4. One to three actual topics or subjects that address your interests/questions. (Not ‘a game’ or ‘experience’ or ‘interactive film,’ find a subject/setting/character/narrative.
Deconstructing the notion of “dancing in public” from cyphers, stage, to the dance floor-
Deconstructing technology that requires the limbs, joints, & muscles of the body.
The symbols of Nahuatl philosophy as methods of inquiry to apply to ones life or way of living.

5. Pair your topics with a genre and an audience: Not just "a game" but the type of game and the type of player you envision. (Expert? General? Student? Adult? Child? Casual? Obsessed? Fan? Animal, Mineral, Vegetable?)
I visualize that this installation would be for people of all ages. From children to adults. My goal is to get participants / performers to use their bodies.

6. Commit to a term (participant, viewer, player, reader, user, audience) that you will use throughout the project. (If you feel this is restrictive, or want more than one term, this is the place to state your view, the important part is to begin to define, and address, your reader.)

I am interested in looking closely at the participant and the role that they play in getting the most out of their experience.
