Nahui Ollin, a project including a short film and physical immersive interactive dance installation, is a transmedia project inspired by Aztec Nahuatl philosophy and a film, Mujer Maiz, “La Hija Del Quinto Sol” (Daughter Of The Fifth Sun). The body of work intersects choreography, filmmaking techniques, & video game design to answer the question: can a film, a screen-based interactive experience and immersive interactive dance installation weave through one another as a single channel to create a transmedia storytelling experience? Nahui Ollin was designed using Isadora, a visual computing program that includes tracking users movement through the accelerometers, the 3-axis tracking system on the Nintendo Wii Remotes. This MFA thesis was created by Andrea Rodriguez as apart of the requirements for the USC, School of Cinematic Art, Interactive Media Division.
