We came up with having the masquerade party placed within the 20s era. The clothing on the characters are somewhat in the same fashion within that era. The mini-map was to reflect a sort of map design if provided for a party guest of that masquerade. With the conversation gui elements, already asked questions and said comments were greyed out (to indicate already chosen). The knife element above the conversation box is a tool that you may select to assassinate the person you are talking to.

HW03 - Shadowrun by Ashley Soriano

Shadowrun

SSshadowrun.png

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYYLHNTQOdg
This Youtube video is footage from my friend Gawdlike, a professional Shadowrun MLG player. Actual gameplay in the video starts at 0:16 seconds.

Shadowrun
Generally, I get bored of most first person shooters that reach the market. Point – shoot – kill has grown relatively boring with each FPS that has released in the past 3 years. Sure, I enjoyed Halo 2 for its health system and glitch gameplay. Also, I enjoyed Call of Duty 4 for its intriguing storyline and game controls. However, no game has interested me more than Shadowrun.

Beyond the regular point and shoot, the magical elements add a real kick to the gameplay. Strategies are more difficult to execute due to the fact that someone can teleport behind you and shoot you in the back. Each player has to think three steps ahead in order to outwit the other team. The game may have its faults and glitches, but the gameplay is always frantically exciting. No two rounds are ever the same.

Halo 3 - Why, oh why?

Why, oh why!? Why must you torture me?

CPL, the Cyberathlete Professional League is holding a $1,000,000 Halo 3 tournament this December in Dallas, Texas. Right on the spot, the winning team will have their individual $250,000 distributed to them in cash at the event.

That's absolutely absurd. Personally, I started competing entirely because I had heard MLG had a $100,000 cash prize for Halo 2. But adding one more zero to that 100000 and making it a million!? Too good to be true! I'm still debating whether or not to go - it starts about when winter break starts and my family likes me to be home. But what an amazing Christmas would it be if I brought a quarter of a million dollars back home...

Something left for me to ponder, and anyone else out there also.

Random Facts Galore

It's been a while...but I'm posting again. Not because I'm pulling another all-nighter (which actually is what I am really doing) but because I'm at LAX airport waiting for my flight for Orlando so I can go to MLG (Major League Gaming). Hour and a half FTW =) And I think the real main reason why I haven't been on here posting is probably because I forgot how to change my image for my blog >_< It's so...so...n00b.

So...it's almost a month into things! Here's the fresh details from the freshman concerning the INEN major: I think I am going to cry. Cry in a good way, that is. I'm pretty thrilled with how my Intro to INEN class is doing. And my first paper...my first paper is on Lego Star Wars...

o_o

OMGLMAOROFLCOPTERCRZYSNAPZYO! All I have to say is, "Can you smell what the Rock is cookin'!?" I'm glad that I did not get Halo 2 or Shadowrun for my paper because I would hate either game after writing a paper on them, but I'm uber-excited to start this paper.

Wait, excited? To start a paper? Is that even POSSIBLE!?

Okay, I'm treating this blog like a Myspace blog and that's not good. I'm going crazy with incomprehensible expressions and random blurts. I feel like I must relate this directly to interactive entertainment and video games...

Right-o. I think I'll talk about MLG. Because I'm sacrificing a good 8 hours of sleep to it, I might as well write about it. Here's the black and white version of MLG:

Major League Gaming is the first large-scale console tournament held in the United States, hosted and sponsored by Red Bull, Boost Mobile, and Microsoft itself. The 2007 season is currently hosting the following Xbox/Xbox 360 titles: Halo 2, Rainbow Six: Las Vegas, Gears of War, and Shadowrun. The tournament features prizes collectively worth over $100,000, including professional status and sponsorship and corporate opportunities.

And here's my version:

Major League Gaming is one of the tournaments within the professionally competitive video gaming community which gives big chances of fame and fortune. Primarily, fortune if you happen to be amazing at Halo 2 and professional in R6V, Gears of War, and Shadowrun. Anything below the bar is worth nothing -- everyone plays the best to be the best. The event is invigorating, filled with pros and noobs alike who scream smack talk at each other in the most primitive yet entertaining ways. Everyone gets wired on Red Bull, screams at 13-year-old 'bad-kids', and freaks out overall. It's an amazing experience and although there are some shady activities going on, which I will not dwell over because of certain circumstances, making the effort to play the best and be the best is rewarding and insane at the same time.

Here's my version personalized:
I'm going to MLG and I'm WAY too tired. I have to wait for one more hour for the flight from LAX to Dallas to Orlando and will most likely be wired on multiple Red Bull's, Rockstar's, etc etc etc. The madness won't stop either; we have about 9 people in our hotel room because people don't like to spend money for hotel rooms and I'm leaving Saturday night to catch my flight home. C-r-a-z-y.

As you can tell, my mind goes at a blank. I'm not sure what my direction in life is, but all I know is my pursuit towards professional video gaming and towards creating video games. I'm still hoping for the best *crosses fingers*

And let's also hope that I retain some stability within this school year.

I bid you au revoir, reader. Why did you read this? I wish I knew.

And by the way...funny note: my gamertag is ai insanity. How appropriate!

I guess this is where I blog...

Morning, all. Yes, I said morning. It's 7:20 AM on a summer Monday morning and I'm awake. Why? Because I pulled the most random all-nighter of all time. I deserve a cookie.

Anyway, I'm taking advantage of the amazing opportunity bestowed upon me by the great webmaster god: a weblog. Haha, great! Another one. I've ruined my life with Xanga. Then with Myspace. Look now! I have a blog administered by the same institution that accepted me as a student! Joy!

Sorry, it's morning. I'm not usually this bitter...not bitter at all...but I'm up with no caffeine and no stimulants in my body. Cynicism and sarcasm go out of my mouth like hotcakes (which reminds me I should have some breakfast...)

So anyway, this is me. I'm Ashley Soriano and I'm a fruitcake at best. Strawberry? Nah. Cherry? No. More like kiwi. I am currently living in USC...which is Upper St. Clair township within Pennsylvania. I'm a competitive gamer (Halo 2 for now), I have a major 'thing' for Harry Potter, and I make myspace layouts for my friends because I'm just that nice. Oh, did I mention I like pie?

Okay! 7:28 and I think I better stop before I crash my system.

I have finished my first blog!

Level up!

By the way, if I am the first incoming freshman to do a weblog then I can certainly prove I have no life :)
