A Scanner Darkly Wired Article

Was just thinking the other day at work that the trailer for Linklater's rotoscoped version of Philip K. Dick's A Scanner Darkly came out ages ago, and that the production must be in trouble. This Wired article outlines just that. Linklater posted flyers for "animators" for Waking Life. He ended up with a hodge-podge of graphic designers, painters, etc who learned the software Rotoshop by MIT grad Bob Sabiston. It made sense to cast untrained animators from different artistic backgrounds for such a small and low budget film that was all about vignettes and different styles. However, Linklater employed a similar technique with Scanner, and predictably, post did not go so smoothly...I guess it's now suppose to be out July 7th, 2006. Check out the new trailer.
