What a world

It seems so strange to me that the CIA Office of Special Counsel launching a website makes news, or even happens. Imagine the CIA Special Council launching a UHF channel in the 50's, or a AM radio station in the 30's... it seems so wierd.

It's this intersection of pop-media and propaganda (Information delivered from a source), that blends into this new age government publication. Just look @ the logo, it's so "A Current Affair"; it's like Fox is now branding our government too.

Weird stuff, and we get to pay for it.

Paint to break Walls

Image(59).jpg

Paint to break Walls, what balls Banksy has. Ok I heard about the smuggling of art into a few of the biggest museums in the world, but those just seemed to be pranks in the vein of Duchaump.

This means something; this shows the true power of art, to speak truth without words. Israel's Apartheid Wall is an evil Zionist excuse to reenact the now destroyed cold remnant known as the Berlin wall.
Image(59).jpg
Will it take 3 decades to end? Or can we stop it now?

How it must feel to have a Zionist state encroaching on your peoples ancient lands for decades, claiming Biblical rights to a land the Jews had conquered in the days of Cannon, only to build a cement and razor wire wall between their well funded 1st world state, and the near 3rd world pieces, camps, of your peoples land, after giving the Zionists 78% of your land in 1988.

All this wall does is reinforce hatred. The State of Israel might publicly proclaim that this is being built for security reasons, but the map of the wall, as it is and where it is proposed, shows much more. The wall is an effort to take more of Palestinian land, illegally, and to police the people of Palestine with the guns of Israeli soldiers. The world court, the Hague, feels the same way; but thanks to our friend Dubya, the ruling Israeli politicians feel they do not have to recognize the world court.

I'm surprised he wasn't shot on the spot, as he put up his multiple works. Bravo to Banksy, let us hope his ripples and those that follow are strong enough to destroy the Walls of the Zionist empire.

On proposal that he lets a machine called the M-5 run the starship Enterprise in a war game against a fleet of starships. Visited

theKids_Visited.jpg
Smiles touched my heart
Sweet sister and kin
Drifted by for a while

Uncle I love you
A child’s words so pure
Unannounced thorn pricked
Walls of sleeping love
Painful at my side
Dormant bear awakened and crushed

Come to me child
I will love you as my kin
How I forgot the longing
Family time again

Long been distanced
Miles of thought and earth put away by time

Forgotten

Alone again I remember and I weep
Crystallized self made again to see
The tenderness of love untainted

Slacker Uprising 2004: USC

Moore.jpg
Wow, what incredible energy! Michael Moore (MM) showed up on campus last night. Thanks to Perry and Michael for allowing the class to go check out this once in a life time event. I could not believe the turnout, there were so many students, 2-5k, I imagine. MM stated he thought it was more like 10k, but it’s hard to see under those lights. He showed these awesome satirical “Vote Bush” commercials he has been creating while on the road with the “Slacker Uprising 2004” tour. I have some audio and video clips of the event, I’ll check later to see if any are post worthy. Based on the energy from last night I would say Bush is going down, as MM says “Three weeks!”
We can only hope! (please God)

Leisure Suits

LL_Condom1.jpg
I was just the victim of a good marketing campaign, targeted very well to the college male I am. I was walking with my friend Tyler, across campus to get coffee, when we ran into a couple of booth-babe type characters. They were touting Leisure Suit Larry baby-tee’s, and had a satchel of these jimmy caps. Apparently there were also giving out copies of the game in Taper Hall. I remember playing the original series in the fourth grade, trying to prove you'rr thirty-five at that age is hard. It was a blast when I was 10... could a low-poly 3d voyeur game be enjoyable as an adult, nostalgic perhaps? Research I don’t care to delve into at the moment, besides, it's currently PC format only… I broke-up with Windows a year ago, and I’m happy to say, I’m almost over it.

Spinning

Spinning.jpg
I had the craziest day yesterday. In my usual fashion I took the 203 to the Metro Red line at Wilshire and Vermont, then transferred to the 163 bus at Hollywood and Vine. Before I knew it I was @ WBIE doing a final Alpha stage analysis of the Xbox version of the game I’m working on. I then ran over to the set of the film, on which the game is based, and hung out there for an hour on my lunch, talking to everyone from the hand doubles to the editors. The property has a dark graphic novel style, so both the game and the film are FX rich. On that note it felt so good to be on that kind of a professional set, the kind that has been of magic to me since I was a child. Seeing the characters I only knew from the GDD and the game itself, walking in flesh and blood was so, bizarre. Later in the afternoon I was able to sit in on an awesome meeting. The creator of a story universe came in and pitched his IP (Intellectual Property). He was good, real good, both in word and practice. I was so happy to be able to see how one would build up a private IP and pitch it to a potential publisher. Then I got this call from a Rabbi. He is so nice, but I was raised Roman Catholic and I’ve never even hung out with a priest…

“I’m sorry I called you so late last night, I felt so bad you were sleeping.” He uttered in his English accent.
“No really that’s cool.”
“I felt so bad you know.”
“It’s alright.”
“I feel so bad; since we meet we haven’t had any time to talk…” insert awkward silence…”So you’re coming to supper tonight.”
“I can’t really.”
“Friday then, I’ll arrange for someone to pick you up.”
I hesitated at first ”O.k.”
“Wonderful dinner on Friday, that’s great.” He excitedly spouted.

I later received a call for a young woman, telling me that the Rabbi told her to pick me up. I asked her where exactly we where going for dinner.
“Another Rabbi’s house, I think.”
Really...so Friday night I’m heading to dinner with two Rabbis’.
Should be quite the experience, I'll try to Lifelog it.

It goes on…I then reversed the path I earlier traversed and landed myself @ the ZML for the seminar. I was glad to see some solid presentations for what will make to be the first thesis works to define our division. I then up and ran off too Ground Zero on campus for the songwriters club showcase. On 5 songs, I played percussion it was a blissful time.

The day left me spinning.

Old Friends

Oldfriends.jpg
It’s a strange thing, when life drops in an old friend,a character from your past to remind you who you are, were, will be. It’s like a memory staring you in face, smiling and taking you back to a place you forgot you ever existed. My old friend Richard Morgan flew into LAX from Beijing on Friday evening to stay with me for the weekend. It’s been almost 10 years since we last saw each other. We met in the third-grade playing war in our friend, the infamous Scratcher, Mike Sue’s back yard in Wilmette, just outside Chicago. We battled side by side that day, I with my found stick rifles and Richard with his Laser Tag Photon Bazooka. It was the start of a great friendship, despite the fact that his arsenals of incredible Laser Tag gear made me loathe the fact that I could not play with guns. After our violent meeting on a stick ridden infrared battleground, we went on to make films and various RPG adventures, for years, before he went abroad. His presence was a refreshing taste of bliss.
I was sad to see him go.

So Happy Together

Me-n-GBA.jpg
Herb lit me up with his post on his lack of knowledge of GBA love. So I thought this a great opp to geek out. I picked up one of these little wonders last winter for Tracey Fullerton’s' class, Digital Game Studies Seminar. I reviewed everything from Onimusha Tactics to Max Payne, and I have to say this hand-held console rocks the pants off of some of the bleeding-edge platforms. First off it's portable, and not I-can-put-on-an-external-frame-BP-and-lug-it-to-a-friends-place portable, you can play it anytime anywhere and for up to 18 hours on one charge.

Nintendo really did it, I was never down with previous versions of the GB, but this one is a beaut. Is it the awesome 8-16 bit game quality, those hot MIDI tracks, or the 2.9-inch reflective TFT color LCD (which works even in SoCal daylight!)? I couldn’t tell you, but one thing’s for sure, I love this mobile media device!

P.S. Nintendo, how can you deny them? Remain loyal to your roots.

Friday Night Ramble

lightpaint-and-lana.jpg
Sitting here pirating wi-fi from a neighbor’s unsecured network, listening to the unsettled sounds of a nighttime complex, I wonder what this day has brought me.

This blog, this fucking blog, damn things' become my journal. Its few visitors filled with anonymous eyes, what do tell do they think? Where is the community I ask? Where are the artists? This thing is just as lost in the woods as all my previous sketchbooks.

Oh, a side note, I received a credit today, a special thanks really, for my work @ WBIE on an Xbox title to be released early in the first quarter of two thousand five. Blessed be the Game makers.
