Transperator: Call to Arms and The Whole Story, Pt. 1

There are three days left in the B-Game competition... so if you can find it in your heart to vote for Transperator, vote now! If you aren't a member of TIGForums yet, you won't be able to play or vote... but if you're interested, sign-up is easy. Just throw down your email address and you have access to all the riches of the indie developer community. Really, that's all we've got.

Those of you who've played the game already may have noticed a huge chunk of text scrolling by at intentionally unreadable speed. Like the game's music, the story of Transperator was my jurisdiction.

I did my best to narrate in 8 bits or less, banging on the keys faster than the speed of Think, and passing every plot-fart through a heavy grammatical filter. Just to keep the tone properly emphatic, I tried to imagine that I was 7 years old, trying to simultaneously pitch this idea to my second grade teacher, and eat an entire pumpkin pie, in the space of five minutes.

This process was amazingly cathartic... and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. The team was pretty happy with it as well... so happy that the plan was to continue it in five installments, one at the beginning, one after level two, one DURING a long section of level two, one before the boss fight, and one at the end. I actually WROTE all five chapters of this crapterpiece, but with the crunch getting the levels finished, it didn't make the cut.

So now, instead, Xtor Prime is a serial novel on my blog, because Why Not?

I will post successive chapters on slow days, but I solemnly swear never to bring this NEAR the main page again.

Here's Chapter One:

Xtor Prime: Retribution in the Invisible Wars: Wrath of Transperator: Part II: ETmD

Prologue Theta: Beyond the Universe Soul

It is the year 198X. The Battle of Xtor Prime have decimated many lunar warriaers, but the moon will strike without fail tonight! You and your legions retreats beyond the Shimmonoth Vale, with the true Extinction Ray out of your hands, there is no choice now but to summon your old best allies, the Dostudor Stucco Rebellion, but again you have been betrayed! With the cosmos all strong in allies against you, there was hope that every battle will be lost, that the Crux of Xtor Two will fall beneath many robot hands. Every battle will be lost, if you do not succeed!

With alone with your ship in your beneficent hands, you set out for your Doldott Knights, the last chance for all, the ancient Interyanis weapon. The alien race that was the Interyanis people... beyond what secret sandwiches was their secret? Now you meet Fenstradu their old leader and learn historiues beyond the cold water of time, at last you know that the secret is You!!!!? A shining laser sword comes down to you- but now the Interyanis have truly shown how a people can die without leaving danger behind. Fore as you touch the sword, you are transformed within your body like an explosion of bones beyond every grave! You have become a monster… the last of the Interryannis. Your form is more terrible to be imagined, but your power is a storm of unknown winter, a great ring of flame that is there for you to protect your people. You are.... ready to fight! You are....... ready for your freedom!

But is it right? Perhaps, in their radical support of exotic taxation laws, and their advocation of moon-pig slavery, your Deldott knights were incorrect. Was the sexual torture you inflicted on the Lunarians in the name of war really justified by your desire for economic domination fo Trinto Ore? Was it possible that, in capturing and disfiguring their children, you were really disfiguring yourselves? You become aware of these feelings at last, and sadness washes over you… sadness for the many who have died needlessly in the battle of ExTorr Prime. Did they all have souls after all? Did they know the sweet smell of laughter? Had they ever seen the dew glistening on a cottage fence as they waited for Maria in the predawn haze, waiting for a glimpse of her auburn hair in the second floor window with nothing but a pane of glass and the steering wheel of a ’98 Plymouth Voyager between you? Of course they did… they were soldiers. A soldier never stops fighting.

But no man is made of tears. You are more than a human now… you are the power of the Interyanis, made flesh once more, and the seven Noble Moons shall be heavy with the stink of vicorty this day from the Lunarian Empire, with allthe power of powers inside you! Riding on a spaceship that came by your sneak back into Xtor Prime, with knowing in your two mechanical heart that there are no more days for the traitor Dostudorstucco rebellion forever!

You are monster fight!
