Just got back from a midnight showing of Cloverfield with Mike Rossmassler.
If you go see it, you should be prepared: THIS IS A MOVIE ABOUT SEPTEMBER 11th. It is by far the most subversive, clever, visceral and terrifying movie on the subject to date, and the boldest wide-release commercial movie (from a form and message standpoint) I may have ever seen.
But the WTC connection is more than coincidental: it's the beating heart. I wanted to warn people (esp. New Yorkers) about what they're getting into before they invest $11 and an hour and a half.
Spoilers in the comments, if anyone's interested in getting into this discussion more fully.

As a work of entertainment, was its story more satisfying than Blair Witch Project's? I heard there was a lot of camera shaking as in Blair Witch Project. True? (In the theater, Blair Witch's camera almost made me vomit...)

I'd say the story was certainly more satisfying than Blair Witch... it was a more interesting use of the "found amateur footage" conceit. The camerawork was just as shaky though... if you DO see it, the back of the theater's the prime real estate.

Just got out of my own screening... and wow. I'm going to post an in-depth take on it, but not only did I enjoy the hell out of it, it has stuck with me in an unexpected way.
And, as frightening as I found Blair Witch to be, I agree, this is a much more successful film. It was one hell of a gamble using blatant 9-11 imagery, but I have to say, I don't think it was poor taste, and they pulled it off.
