Hush wins two at Meaningful Play

I had a great time at the Meaningful Play conference last week. It seemed a little strange packing up, mid-thesis-work, and make a 12-hour journey to Lansing Michigan, but it was absolutely worth it, because:

1. I saw some very intelligent people share their knowledge about one of the central issues in game development

2. I watched the leaves change color and fall in the river that runs through the campus

3. I met some fantastic people from other schools and institutions, and we played poker for candy stakes

4. I won the majority of the aforementioned candy (and immediately redistributed the wealth, knowing that 75 mini-Twix bars would not survive the flight home).

5. I got to go out amid a great crop of non-traditional games and share Hush with folks who truly appreciated it

6. At the awards ceremony, Hush won two of the four awards: Most Innovative, and Best Overall!!!1!!!11!!

The four people who took this game from concept to execution (Devon Johnson, Chris Baily, Joey Orton and Brittany Pirello) should be really proud... the response to your work has been overwhelming. Congratulations!!!

And now, in the words of the D, Next Song. I'm working with another small team on a new game project that has (figuratively) set my brain on fire. But that's a story for another post.
