Monday Workshops @ IMD — Practices in Networked Publics with danah boyd
Practices in Networked Publics with danah boyd
POSTPONED
Monday November 12, 1-5p, Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts, Room 201.
From Usenet to social network sites (like MySpace and Facebook), "networked publics" have provided people with rich spaces for engagement. How have these environments come into being? How are they used? How are they similar or different to traditional public settings? What aspects of their design afford what behaviors? How have designers succeeded or failed at meeting user expectations? The goal of this workshop is to explore the history, culture, and practices surrounding networked publics, with an emphasis on youth engagement.
Please RSVP to Julian Bleecker (bleecker at usc dot edu)
The Monday Workshops @ IMD are a series of weekly short topic workshop on tools, skills and techniques for interactive media. The workshops are designed to be intensive and hands-on introductions to a variety of topics — to get you over that initial, sometimes daunting learning curve that many interactive media tools and techniques present.
