The Planet Overview:
There will be several landmasses and elements that exist on and around the planet. These areas will consist of:
• Habitable (by Humans) land: each individuals footprint
• Uninhabitable (by Humans) land
o Industrial Land (oil fields, factories)
o Polar Ice Caps
o Wildlife Refuges
o Ocean
• Atmosphere (pollutants, CO2, holes)
• Space (might provide room for additional planets, if need be. This could represent the actual number of earths and its natural resources
INTERFACE DESIGN
[Sketches in notebook to be scanned]
Opening page (1):
Welcome to your planet. Please take good care of it...
Page 2:
You will be given a piece of land that represents your place in and on this planet. It is your responsibility to maintain the well-being of your land and the planet as a whole. This will be done by a measure of your personal ecological footprint, as well as external factors that are beyond your control.
To receive your land, please register:

[Each person who registers will receive a piece of land on the planet in the shape of a footprint. All footprints will interconnect, as more users users register. After receiving their footprint, they will be asked to answer the questions below to determine the effect of their daily activities. Though ones ecological footprint usually results in the number of planets needed to sustain their activities, I will use the alternate measurement of acres. The users footprint will expand, and over a number of days, change in appearance. ]

Thank you for registering. This is the current form of your land. Please fill out the ecological footprint questionnaire below to determine the impact of your footprint:

CATEGORY ACRES
FOOD 3.2
MOBILITY 1.7
SHELTER 4.9
GOODS/SERVICES 4.4
TOTAL FOOTPRINT 14
IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON.
WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON.
IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 3.2 PLANETS.
[The user will immediately see the calculation of their impact. Over the course of several days, the users’ land will be transformed based on the answer to the eco-footprint questions. At this point live news data related to environmental issues will be fed into the system. This data will change the planet, but these changes will be out of the control of the users.]
