Big Card Game

This was a real-life game platform that my class and I created as a means to get the typical “too cool for school” USC undergraduate to make a fool out of him or herself by playing with the world’s largest deck of playing cards. Each card was made up of a piece of cardboard measuring 33 3/4" x 52 1/2" x 37". We used stencils and a TON of spray paint to generate the face of every single card (52 in all). We had classmates who went out with flyers trying to get the word out to the campus about the event and where it was going to take place (in a park on the main thoroughfare through campus).
We ended up getting some of the students involved. The most popular activity we did with the cards was building card houses. Though I believe some people found it more fun to knock said card houses down. The other two activities that worked well were a simple card trading/person chasing game called Iso-Card and the classic speed-solitaire game of Spit. At the end of the day, we were getting tired of people ignoring us, so we pulled our deck into the middle of the main walkway and played a big game of War. It was hilarious watching all of the people doing their best to avoid us and the cards, while looking like we weren’t even there!
