blue dots  A Modern Moment

I create an iTunes "smart" playlist to play b-side cuts out of regular rotation. It evidences some "Young Alive in Love" songs I hadn't listened to in too long.

Young Alive in Love was the music project name of W. David Marx; he renamed his work NeoMarxisme. As I listened, I searched Google - I found Marxy has a blog, as well as his usual site. I sent Aaron the URL, because I think they'd get along (David's a funny guy).

So as my iTunes was playing Young Alive in Love, my iChat shows whatever song I'm listening to in iTunes (thanks to this iChatStatus plug-in). W. David Marx, whom I haven't talked to since September when I was last in Tokyo, he messaged me to say "what is young alive in love 01 01 2212?" - asking after the filename of the song coming through my speakers.

A few lines of chat later, and he's uploading me the lastest mastered MP3 of his new album, Kyoshu Nostalgia. And I'm thinking, wow. Friend-made music, direct from Tokyo, serendipitously delivered, immediate gratification.
