NeoMarxist - First Podcast Consumption
Podcasting is a new media form that I've been hearing about for months but I haven't engaged in the slightest. I don't carry around an iPod, chiefly.
But today I listened to my first Podcast - this file from neomarxisme. It sets a pretty high standard in custom audio crafting - mixes, remixes, skits. David is a musician, so it makes sense that he would make some gourmet ear candy. I guess most other podcasts are either talk-radio or mix tapes gone digital? I wonder what I would make. What is a podcast but a long personal MP3?

There are really a variety of podcasts out there. From talk radio to monologue to instructional stuff to music commentary. All of which can find way tighter niches.
If you want an interesting sampler, go over to www.steve-lacey.com (Steve's a dev lead on Flight Sim, and runs a podcast called 'a brit abroad') and scroll down to the link to the "BritCast". Britcast is a periodic (monthly?) podcast which is a medley of 6 or 7 british podcasters. They are each given 3 minutes and have to stick to a given theme. However, their styles vary widely, so it's an interesting mix. For example, one of them does a podcast on the english urban performance poetry scene, so he picks a poem for that month's theme.
Anyhow, check it out. Its entertaining.
