Chiaroscuro is a bold contrast between light and dark.

Through Velazquez Artwork ,“Las Meninas” , we can see the Chiaroscuro technique used as a tension of layers which present different characters in their beautiful, realistic and mysterious ways.

On the other hand “Las Meninas” version from Picasso they are shown in black and white abstract, cubist and symbolic ways, which could be interpret as what is behind the Velazquez intentions and their characters.

The suggestive poetic subtitles go from the defense to the complementation of Vanity (Pride), the external appearance, versus the Honesty of the internal self.

With this artwork I try to invite the viewers to create his/her configuration of visual and texts through choosing between three options on each screen, and to contribute at the same time to the global collaborative piece, the multiscreen player. Each screen serves to create a more balance or unbalance multiscreen global piece, in terms of its vanity and humility detailed contents (text and visuals).

Some of these tensions are developed through the mix of visual and text details of the artworks and could be synthesize on the following concepts:

Inside versus Outside
Vanity vs Humility
Opposite vs Poles
Honesty vs Dishonesty
Complementary Energies
