More Nintendo Controller
Supposedly it works like a 3d mouse.
It looks like a deadly Mac branded Nunchaku. Prepare to feel the burning wrath of my iNunchaku, Mario. If you look really carefully it's the old 8bit Nintendo controller held sideways.

Actually I think it might be the first ambidextrous game pad in game history.

And don't forget the wonderswan.
Also, ASCII made a one-handed controller that was made specifically for 32 bit generation RPG players.

ok it's probably not the first. But it's still nifty. Also being wireless and what seems to be modular, I'm guessing that this isn't going to be the only controller released by Nintendo.

Color me beyond skeptical. I'm sure they know that they're doing and yet, at the same time, i can't fathom how i'm going to enjoy holding that in my hand.

Apparently, it also works as a laser pointing-like device. So you can interact with games by moving the controller around like a wand. Imgaine a samurai game where the user gets to swing their sword.
Via Gamespot, they had a version of Metroid Prime 2 running with it. The user used the analog stick to look around and the directional pad to move. There is a trigger underneath the controller/remote section for shooting. So it looks like FPSs aren't out of the question.
Overall, its way different than I expected. I hope developers will come up with some exciting games and utilize the technology fully (cough cough cough, USC IMD). Someone get us a dev kit already! Sheesh!
P.S. Ken- why you gotta steal my post? Punk... : )

Correction to my FPS description via CNN Money:
"Another example: You're playing a first person shooter (perhaps the latest "Metroid" game). The controller would act as a virtual pistol in your hand, letting you point at and shoot objects on screen, using that aforementioned trigger button near your index finger."
