Deep Breath, People

jko has some topical Guidelines for focusing on learning:

1. Release the need to be right.

2. Welcome one another's thoughts and opinions.

3. Suspend judgment.

4. Listen for understanding, not rebuttal.

5. Make personal statements by using "I" rather than "you".

6. Clarify first what was said before you challenge someone.

7. Take time to reflect.

8. Lean into discomfort.

9. Respond first to what was said before making your point.

10. Have fun.

I'll probably have to clarify to a greater degree at some point, but for now, I'll just say that the suggestion I made in previously are just that, suggestions. They are meant to be contructive jumping off points, and of course (take a look at the title of the blog), only reflect my personal opinion, based on 1) my current experience and 2) what I think it should be. Take it for what it is, and remember keep those 10 rules in mind, especially #10. We're all in this together.
