GAME DAY POST MORTEM!!!
HOLLEEE CRAP.
So here I was... sitting alone in the IML, wondering if people were going to show up. I was beginning to think that I may have been stood up when, from outta nowhere, the flood gates opened and there was an amazing turn out!
I want to thank everyone that showed up to play. I had a freakin' blast, and I hope it was a feeling shared by all. :) I hope that we can do something like this again (early next January mayhaps? :D )
I'm curious, to all that showed, was there anything you'd like different for the next iteration? Some things pitched were holding it in the ZML (for more screens, but not much in the sound department, not likely to play any LAN games, and a built in stopping time of when the Zemekis building closes), some other games set up on the PCs (DefCon, Scorched Earth...), and pizza. I'm interested in having this be a thing where it happens at the beginning and at the end of the semester (before everything gets crazy and after everything ends to unwind).
Any thoughts? For those that invited people that don't view the blog, please ask them what they thought and post their responses, or, better yet, have them post :D

It was like a secular electric holiday! Good times all around!

Just out of curiosity, did Al happen to rock out shirtless during game day? And if he did, are there any pictures?

definitely! They are part of the IMD photo pool as well, so, until people have more pictures to add, they will be the first pics people see when they come to our home page! :D

how about next time do it in the ZML? that would be awesome.

I vote for more Als. His energy was infectious!
Thank you for putting it together, Mike! It really was a great turn out.
Maybe we could use the room next to Marientina's office for loud gaming next time? I really love Guitar Hero, but 6 hours straight was a bit much. But I don't want to discourage the rocking out! Especially when it leads to nakedness.
And LAMPS. Lord it was eerie in there with nothing but the glow of projectors and monitors!

What was the attendance list?!?!

Aaron:
ZML wouldn't have been able to handle the turnout unless people were in different rooms (and then no longer the social experience I was after) and/or we moved out all the tables. Furthermore, the sound in the ZML kinda sucks, particularly since only one thing can be routed to the speakers in the ZML at a time.
Of course, that may have been not such a bad thing... :D

Justin:
Lessee...
I tried to make a list but there were so many people in and out, plus people I didn't know (some animation students too!) that I couldn't come up with a complete list.
Current estimates put the total to around 30 or so.

The receiver in ZML will eventually be replaced so you guys can do this again in there. It sucks big time now. The eLab can be used but there is lots of stuff in it for storage usually.

It really was an awesome time. I had suggested the ZML before this meeting but I really don't think it would have gone as well as it did, in retrospect.
I thought the whole experience was pretty awesome. The only low points were when Guitar Hero was turned off because of complaining and also when Dragonball went on, because it dropped the amount of people who could play Wii from 4 to 2. Other than that, awesome times.
Maybe in the future we should set up a couple Wiis instead of just the one. I think that would be one of the few areas in which the ZML would be more suitable, due to the larger number of open areas/screens in which to play in front of.
