A quick head's up: there's a 10th anniversary screening of The Big Lebowski 7:30 PM Saturday, March 29th at The Egyptian.
I'd post more details or a link, but The Egyptian's website is pokey at the moment.
As a media scholar, I can only offer the following postulate: whatever cinema started in the early 20th century reached its apotheosis with this film at the end.

I'm breaking radio silence to cry bloody murder that this movie is turning ten. I must be an old, old man.
P.S. Jeff Bridges has a blog: http://www.jeffbridges.com/main.html.
The site looks (intentionally, I think) like it was scribbled on one of Jacki Treehorn's notepads, but it's comforting to know the dude abides.

We would do well to remember that Jeff Bridges also portrayed Kevin Flynn, the programmer behind such games as ENCOM's Space Paranoids. Truly, he is a renaissance man for our burgeoning age.

That anniversary puts things in perspective for me. It came out during my first year in Los Angeles. I was having a pretty good time, but was trying to put my finger on the charm of the city. What I found distinct yet appealing. And the Big Lebowski knocked that out of the park.
