Interactive Media Pot Luck Reminder
In anticipation of Celia Pearce's lecture tomorrow and in celebration of our wednesday pot luck, I made this dessert and the first lucky folks who show up with food they brought will get to taste my Super Four Berry Almond Hazelnut Torte. Since we are an Interactive department, I encourage you to interact with each other's foodstuffs for starters... Be a good sport and bring something cool to the table!

I will blow my talented homemaker status however and reveal that the crust was home baked but Whole Foods bought. I don't have room for extreme baking situations in my humble abode.
What are u bringing, sir?

The recipe:
30 minutes.
1 whole wheat frozen crust from Whole Foods (or make your own)
1 cup fresh blueberries
1 cup fresh raspberries
1 cup fresh blackberries
1 bag of frozen berries combination with strawberries or just strawberries
1 cup almond meal (or pulse one cup almonds in chopper until they are fine)
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons hazelnut or praline spread
1. Thaw crust and preheat oven to 400F.
2. Place frozen berries in a sauce pan in medium heat and add 3/4 cup of all other berries (keep fresh berries for topping). Add balsamic vinegar and honey and leave in low heat for no more than 20 minutes.
3. Poke holes in pie with fork all over for an even bake. Bake pie till golden.
4. While pie filling is cooling, cover inside of pie while hot with hazelnut or praline spread.
5. Add cup of almond meal to pie filling and mix well. Add a little more almond meal if mix is too runny. Fill pie with mix.
6. Top with berries and place in cool place of in fridge overnight.
7. Bring to seminar wrapped in foil with knife for lip smacking fun.
Tips: Use an even mix or sweet and sour berries. Add lemon juice if too sweet. Add more honey or some apple sauce if too sour. For an extra rich touch, cover bottom with Vosges Gianduja baking chips.
