10:09 AM 1and1 Hosting Is Terrible
Just in case anyone reading this ever needs hosting, stay the F away from 1and1. They are cheap but they are slow to act and rarely do the right the thing when you call tech support. I have wasted so much time with 1and1 on the phone and over email that I am convinced they have grown way too large and are simply too inefficient to handle their customer base.

They couldn't figure out why one of my domains couldn't be deleted, and they kept charging me for it. Seems like I'm not the only one that this happens to... Check their Pennsylvania Better Business Bureau rapsheet:
http://www.dc.bbb.org/report.html?national=Y&compid=1040770

Now the real nightmare is transferring your domains away, you should always be aware that you must manually change nameservers before your get rid of your current host. 1and1 took forever to get this process going and eventually my domain expired, now they want $40 to reinstate it. The domain name bidness is a treacherous one for customers, I just hope to increase awareness for those of us that own domains that we've grown attached to.

Try anyone else, BlueHost, HostGator, InMotion Hosting (most are in the LA, CA or Arizona area, good ping to their server), just stay away from 1and1.

It's also a really cool story about visual programming for kids. The interface is very similar to the one that came with my Parallax Scribbler Robot.

09:53 PM CityTagz.com is now live
CityTagz is my thesis project, and it attempts to bring urban communities closer together. It is meant to enhance LA residents' spatial and historical awareness. It is primarily meant to be used as a teaching tool in history, geography, social studies or computer literacy curriculum in grades 6-12.

I am mostly interested in the perspective of youth in that age range, but this doesn't mean you can't get an account and show us around your area of town. Do it now!
