Modeling

I love toys, i have since i was a little kid. From He-man to Transformers, to G.I. Joe, to Gundams, to Xevoz, i have an obsession with action figures. So when it came about that i could make physical things for 534, i decided to take a crack at making my own action figures. I'm comfortable making things in maya, but i have never done any 3d sculpture before. So i bought some mixable expoxy, some cheap action figures, and went to work.

So far i am very happy with the results. I have tried two approaches, one is a kitbash of sorts, and one is a complete scratchbuild. A kitbash is a conglomeration or modification of existing figures.

For the base for the kitbash, i picked up a cheap wrestling figure that is based on the Marvel Legends joint structure. I've been adding pieces to make him work like the post-mortem creatures in my world. Eventually i will get around to chopping him up and distorting the limbs, or that may happen on the follow-up figure.

you might recognize this guy from my sketchbook...

I'm also taking a stab at making an entirely new figure. it's more of a maquette. the start is here:

they'll make a lot more sense once they are sanded and painted
