"Graphical Demo" of the Week - DRIVEY

This time we have a non game of the week. It is only a "Graphical Demo," however the visual style is interesting and overall the work has an attractive feel. Mark Pursey, the game's designer, offers some thoughts about design and prior art on the distribution website.

Format: Mark Pursey's "Jujuscript." 1 Player.

Core Mechanic: Drive

Control: Arrow Keys / AI.

Interface: Debug Menu

Design Thoughts: The visual style here is quite powerful. Using blacked out and simple static meshes for buildings and bridges conveys a lot, particularly with the car motion. Adding a tighter control system for the car could create an interesting experience, however, the fact that the demo has no goals or even collision detection adds to the simple aesthetic.

Tracy Fullerton:

Reminds me of the old Atari game Night Driver, updated of course.
