WHO DO YOU THINK I AM???

In case you never met me, or didn't take the time to get to know me, I'll let you know that my favorite thing of all time is Gurren Lagann:

Why do I love Gurren Lagann? Because it was the first time I saw someone put my spirit into a work of fiction. When faced with the impossible task, the infinitely powerful force, the enemy that lords over everyone like a king telling us what our limitations are, and asked if I would give up the only response is:

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!?!

Now I have some work to do... I may not be posting for a bit, but I think it will be worth it!

This is from the studio that did King of Braves GaoGaiGar, right? Man, I love their ridiculous use of foreshortening and completely over-the-top heroes. In that case, it was always basically "We'll win because we're brave heroes, and that's what we do!"

Oh man, brilliant! I am in the process of blocking out time to watch King of Braves GaoGaiGar right now. Lagann is from Gainax, my personal favorite anime studio. I could go into a long rant of how this EPICNESS has been re-invented and evolved over time...

In fact, one of my application essays at USC did just that.

Basically when they asked me to pitch an original piece of IP I suggested the idea of making a game that makes people feel as FIRED UP as I do after watching a show like this. Still don't know of a game in existence that reaches that mark.

It's weird. I seem to remember having that feeling after playing a game, but I can't for the life of me figure out what game it was. But I absolutely know the emotion you're talking about. I think "Yeaaaaaaaah!!!" sums it up pretty well.
