Hollywood Games Summit

Looks like there's a new conference in June.
Gamespot is running a news piece about a new conference, organized by the GDC folk and the Hollywood Reporter, called the Hollywood and Games Summit on June 27th. According to the article, the conference is meant to "allow leaders from the respective industries to interact and discuss best practices for strategically marketing original IP via both media to greatest effect."

Surely, as an interative media department in Hollywood's best film school, we can have a presence.

RIP Motorola V600

I came late to the cell phone party. I didn't get one until October 2004, I just didn't see why I needed to have one.
Yesterday afternoon, I accidentaly left my cell phone in my jeans while doing my laundry. It was on when it went in to the washing machine. It's now a very wet, very clean, phone-shaped paperweight.

Aside from being inclined to never do laundry again, I was surprised at just how quickly I'd become dependant on that one piece of technology. My roomate wasn't around yesterday afternoon, so I had no access to a phone line. I couldn't even order a pizza, if I'd wanted. It's hard to believe that something I came to rely on so heavily, could also be so easily broken. Sure, a cell phone is more versatile than a land line, but nobody ever drowned their land line.
