Uncomfortably close to the work that Ken Rinaldo has been doing for years...
"A fishbowl that moves in the direction a Siamese fighting fish is looking. That is the concrete description of Ken Rinaldo"s installation Delicate Balance. More generally speaking, the American artist connects a fish and a machine without the fish being aware of the interface. " (1995)
"Augmented Fish Reality is an interactive installation of 5 rolling robotic fish-bowl sculptures designed to explore interspecies and transpecies communication. Each of five fish bowls containing Siamese fighting fish sits atop a rolling robotic sculpture. Four infrared sensors looking into each fish bowl register the movements of the fish and transform them into movements of the robotic sculptures. In this way, the fish can move about in space as they choose." (2004, Prix Ars Electronica Honorable Mention)
yeah, I remember being very intrigued by Augmented Fish Reality. Does this project reference that one, or build on it in any way other than giving it a snappier title? I hope so. But serious recognition is due to the wording concept. I mean, AFR is OK, but Terranaut is cosmic...

why would they use a servo motor for a wheel? that makes no sense at all.
i'm curious about how its being exhibited though. does the fish just wander around the exit art space? some video documentation would be awesome.
