College education via iTunes
SiliconBeat: Your college education via iTunes
Speaking of Stanford, the university has announced an agreement with Apple to produce free podcasts of lectures, student music, play-by-play of its football games and more. There's already a ton of content in the iTunes store, including lectures from the Technology Ventures Program. (Note: You apparently can't access the Stanford content directly from the iTunes store. You have go through the Stanford iTunes site first.) Educators in many places have embraced podcasting to make their lectures, etc. more easily accessible. But Stanford's inititaive seems the most ambitious. It's also seems to be a smart move by Apple, especially given Yahoo's attempt to cultivate an audience for its music service among Stanford students.(Thanks to colleague Jessie Seyfer for the pointer.)

Can I get a degree with $1.99 chunks? It's gotta be cheaper than this place.
I posted this idea ages ago. We need a similar system here. I might keep some profs on thier toes if they knew they were being recorded for posterity!
In a place like this with tele-presence @ it's core, we should be able to view seminars and lectures anytime anywhere.

And here at SC:
"Students taking Chemistry 203 can listen to the class lectures while working out at the gym, riding a bicycle or doing any other activity outside of the classroom by using an iPod.
By Podcasting, students can download lectures onto their iPod where they can listen, pause, rewind and fast forward lectures anytime."
