guerilla space-tagging made simple

image

was reading boing-whatever today and stumbled upon this cool company that makes tape. sure, tape in and of itself isn't all that cool, but this tape is special: it comes with printed text/number templates that you can use to make your own duct-tape like slogan or whatever. Just get a black marker and black out the parts of the template necessary to make your letter, and presto...

seems like a really easy way to do quick, temporary stenciling on the cheap, or for use with a project where you need tags, etc. in a space.

links

a post to thank Regine from we-make-money-not-art for giving some IMD projects a little light; most recently she's blogged and said nice things about Todd's thesis project Here Be Dragons, and an older project we did called mobzombies.

(ed. note, this post is also, more or less subtly, an attempt to tell todd that these projects he worked on got blogged, but I'll probably just email him too).

The Spartan Life

shot001.jpgFound this link a second ago, on what is clearly a day that has been too filled up with staring at a computer monitor.

The Spartan Life is, according to gizmodo, a "thinking man's red v. blue," consisting of thoughtful Halo 2 in-game interviews with industry types via xBox live. I just got finished watching the Bob Stein interview, and I must admit that it's the first interview I've ever seen that begins with the guest, (Stein, in this case), crashing a warthog before reaching the intended interview area, and forcing the interviewer to run down to make sure that he's ok. From there, a bunch of gameboy type music starts playing for some reason, as Stein and the interviewer traverse to a remote desert location to begin the interview. The best part for sure is the other battles happening on this xBox live channel during the interview, and having Stein saying deep type things as "the physical space is still quite apparent, even though it's entirely virtual" while random plasma shots fly through the air.

Anyway, check out the Stein interview here, and the rest of the episodes here.

Yahoo Local Beta

Yahoo Local Beta is up. I must admit, for however much I like the functionality of google maps, yahoo maps are much prettier. Those google maps are far and away the ugliest maps out there, and the deafuly little info-markers are pretty hideous as well.
