Thanks for your post and for giving me the opportunity to respond.
I am not convinced that people (audiences) care more about content. Or even that they should. Though I do believe that YOU care.
I suspect the demand for art/entertainment is so great, and the criteria for success with different audiences so diverse, that most artistic production must of necessity be schlock in order to meet this demand. Schlock has always had its place in culture. And I suspect this will always be the case. Consider the poles represented by Hollywood on the one hand and Dogme95 on the other. One could never satisfy the needs or interests of the other's audience.
Perhaps rather than hope to bring about a radical and complete reversal in standards for creative production and reception, it is sufficient that we conscientiously safe-guard a space that allows for BOTH the mindless technology-driven cookie-cutter blockbuster and the thoughtful provocative content-driven alternative.
I agree with your opinion too, bayo. Obviously, the technology drivern market is formed. And the polygon numbers have been considered an important criteria for games. However, with the upgrading of the video cards like nVidia and the other hardware capability, games will become more and more splendid. But look at the former games of the year, none of them won because of new generation technology but well crafted story, gameplay system and artistic design.
