I like the abstraction of volume and the depth cues that are implied by atmosphere. Detail texture maps of individual facades will have to be introduced carefully in V-2. You may want to consider solid/void fenestration to suggest puncuated massing for an intermediate step. A reference that may be useful too, is Colin Row's "Collage City."
