I Am More Than My Thumb is the thesis project of Kellee Santiago, a member of the IMD MFA class of '06. The project is a body-based interface experiment that seeks to engage the entire body in the game Cloud.
Once they enter the project space, participants put on gowns with LEDs sewn into them. The LEDs are tracked by a phasespace optical motion capture system. The game engine uses the real-time feed from the mocap system to let the participants control Cloud Boy through the motion of their arms.
Through this project, Kellee aimed to create "an experience that would awaken people (gamers/non-gamers, dancers/non-dancers) to the possibilities that physical play can unlock."
