Technophiles Anonymous

Technophiles Anonymous is the thesis project of Andrew Sacher, an MFA student from the class of 2006. The physical space of the project resembles a church confession booth. Upon stepping inside, however, a participant is confronted with multiple television screens through which a "virtual sponsor" will converse with them about their technology use.

The project amplifies the consequences of a perpetually connected, entertained, and "working" society. In addition, through user participation, this project assembles an ever-growing record of our collective technophilia. Once given, confessional stories are added to a database that catalogues our addictive behavior and reflects technology's potential influences on society.
