Exploration & Rapid Prototype

When you have a rough idea of what you are going to make, you need to detail and finalize it through exploration.

Brain Storming with your teammates is the best way to get ideas out. 30 - 45 min per group. No more than 7 people. Very quickly you will be overwhelmed by ideas. At this stage you need to think about what you really want and pick them wisely. What did I want for Cloud? The experience I mentioned before. So I picked the ideas and turns them into features that will support the feeling.

Unfortunately you are making video game for others, you can never assume a feature that works for you will work for others. That's why you need to prototype them before it's too late to change. So here are the features and their prototypes we made to explore the Cloud design:

  • Gathering (The feel of satisfaction, warm and safe)
  • Abstract Shape Creation & Draggin (The thing that makes you imagine)
  • Puff Simulation (The feel of the puffy clouds)
  • Camera (The feel of freedom)
