Viewfinder began as a modest research effort in May 2006 supported by USC ICT, which eventually led to a Google Research Award granted in August 2007. We gratefully acknowledge Google’s John Hanke, Jeff Walz, and particularly Lance Williams, our designated mentor. Lance, a computer graphics pioneer, has been a friend and colleague to several Viewfinder team members for many years.

We also gratefully acknowledge Tom Pereira, ICT Producer; Scott Fisher, USC IMD Chair; and Elizabeth Daley, USC School of Cinematic Arts Dean, for their flexibility with budget issues. The USC Stevens Institute for Innovation has been invaluable for their support, particularly Paul Reep, Keith Johnson, and Juan Felipe Vallejo, as well as Marc E. Brown, Matthew McClosky, and Jessica Brown at McDermott Will and Emery LLP.

We are also grateful to the many students and faculty in the IMD community for their casual participation and feedback, particularly Professor Steve Anderson and students Anthony Ko, Ethan Kennerly, Lulu Cao, Nahil Sharkasi, and Anna Huerta. A special thanks to Diana Hughes for last minute help.
